The step was taken by the Canadian government after monitoring that some unauthorized elements hacked the “Statistics Canada” website. The hackers took advantage of recent susceptibility in the software of Apache web server, which allowed them to get in. But, the website “Canada Revenue Agency” wasn’t hacked, but it shared the similar susceptibilities. So, the Canadian government decided to bring down its pages, especially the online filing & payment systems as a safety measure during applying strips.
The government officials have confirmed that intruders were unable to take any type of secret or personal information, which could cause more damages for the tax role offered by the CRA. The downtime results by the attack didn’t bring most critical time for the Canadian government and Canadian residents.
