Listen to this articleThe new anti-regulation stance of the Federal Communications Commission is now affecting prisons. It was reported by BuzzFeed that the FCC has decided for not defending 2 major fields of its caps on prison phone call rates. There are limits within state call rates and the mechanisms used in considering those rates. It is expected a step for terminating the caps altogether. But, it will not finish litigation from phone service providers trying to overturn the caps because they have merely on hold and not terminated. It is important that just before a couple of weeks it was challenging for supporting various companies by the FCC. The Telcos has indicated that the administration of former FCC had misguided the federal law.
Telcos further indicated that according to the attorneys, a clause was demanding that provider be “efficiently compensated”, it means to deliver dues to the companies, but not to keeping rates artificially low. It was said that the caps were purportedly to expensive and the service operators were getting a considerable amount of loss. But, it generally raises a question that whatever the reasons, will the FCC work in keeping check on the call rates if the current methods & laws to be eliminated? There would be some limits due to rates were being used as a tricky way for preventing prisoners from calling. If there isn’t any kind of limit, it might be more expensive for keeping connecting with family and friends.
