Lyft Manager Hired for a Key Transportation Role in White House
It is appealing to over generalize the ridesharing industry into an ethical battle. Lyft is the kinder and big-hearted outfit for donating to the ACLU. It is important that Uber has been considered a leader of hyper-capitalism in making political agreements in the name of its bottom line. It is unforgettable that both these companies have been considered complicated beasts that provide a massive range of views. Point to be noted that Trump administration has recently announced plans to recommend the General Manager of Lyft, Derek Kan as the Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy for Southern California. It is not necessary to suddenly announce his political connection, but it is actually a major logical step linked to his career.
Derek Kan had spent a considerable amount of time in the private sector prior to join Lyft, for instance, he formerly led strategy at the biotech startup Genap-Sys. He was also a policy advisor to the U.S Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. He led economist policy committee for the U.S Senate Republican. It has been considered marginally surprising at some point if he did not return to Republican politics. His previous transportation background was with the board of Amtrak and now he has been assumingly confirmed for new task. The Lyft will only comment that Kan and wishes him “luck in whatever path he selects”. It is not regarding to paddle into the politics of its employees like various companies, unless it becomes an important issue for the bigger organization.
