The IOC (International Olympic Committee) has recently disqualified 4 Russian skeleton athletes from the 2014 Sochi Games. The Committee also disqualified women’s bronze medalist Elena Nikitina and men’s gold medalist Aleksandr Tretiakov due to doping violation. The committee also banned them from the games going forward. Uhlaender said that it has been considered a difference of culture because the Russians believe that they didn’t involve in the wrong doing, but this has been considered a single way to fix it. After disqualification of Tretiakov, Martins Dukurs of Latvia will be promoted to gold medal.
Matt Antoine from the U.S will be promoted to silver and Tomass Dukurs (brother of Martins) will be promoted to bronze medal. Now, first position will go to Lizzy Yarnold of Great Britain for gold, Noelle Pikus-Pace of the United States will be at 2nd position for silver medals and Uhlaender will move up one step from 4th to 3rd and she will get bronze medal. Now, the president of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation is still under investigation and it could keep block to Russia from entirely participating in this winter’s Pyeongchang Games, but no one can predict what will happen next. The IOC (International Olympic Committee) asked the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation to change the Olympic results. The IBSF said that they are expecting more information in the next coming days then the Federation will announce changed final results.
