Trump Administration is facing an Extraordinary Showdown

The U.S President Donald Trump has defended himself on Twitter as his administration faces an extraordinary showdown with Congress after acting national intelligence director Joseph Maguire withheld a whistleblower’s complaint understood to concern a private conversation between the president and a foreign leader, in spite of its being classified a matter of Urgent Concern. He also informed reporters that they should look into Joe Biden when asked about the whistleblower’s complaint, in an angry press conference in the Oval Office. Trump also called the whistleblower as bipartisan. He said he didn’t know who the person was.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the president asked the Ukranian president Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden’s son regarding during a phone call in July. The White House said Trump will meet Zelensky next week. The panel’s chairman Adam Schiff said the House Intelligence Committee hasn’t ruled out going to court to force Maguire’s hand. The Washington Post and New York Times reported that at least part of the mystery complaint involves Ukraine.

Trump’s former secretary of state Rex Tillerson has meanwhile informed Harvard University that the administration got played by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He described as a bit Machiavellian. Trump didn’t mention Friday’s wildly successful climate strike at all today.
