Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have indicated a downturn in Covid-19 cases in New York

On Sunday, Governor Andrew Cuomo has indicated the new coronavirus figures of New York have shown an ongoing downturn in the severity of the widespread COVID-19 epidemic. He shared the most recent impact report during his latest coronavirus briefing at Long Island Health facility of Northwell. Governor said the single-day hospitalization, intubation, and fatality counts have declined statewide. He said, “If the data holds and if this trend holds, we are past the high point and all indications, at this point, are that we are on a descent”. Cuomo also referenced the overall coronavirus curve in New York. His comment repeated a similar statement he shared on Sunday afternoon on Twitter.

Cuomo said in his tweet, “New York is now descending the other side of the mountain”. He also reminded the residents of New York State that there is a continuous decline in the number of coronavirus cases due to adopting social distancing guidelines. He added, “It is no time to get cocky, and it’s no time to get arrogant. We’re not at the plateau anymore, but we’re still not in a good position”. Cuomo announced that 507 new deaths were reported on Saturday, down from 540 reported on Friday and 630 reported on Thursday. Moreover, there have been 242,786 confirmed cases of coronavirus throughout the New York State.

It is noteworthy that New York’s daily hospital admission and intubation rates have decreased over the past 3-days, with almost 800 fewer patients hospitalized on Saturday. Cuomo called it ‘good news’, but acknowledged that the state continues to report new hospitalizations in staggering volumes every day. The Department of Health of New York will start antibody tests for state residents across the state during next week. Cuomo said the widespread antibody testing will provide state officials with the first true snapshot of what we’re really dealing with. on Monday morning, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also said, “We are leaving no stone unturned to help New Yorkers in this time of crisis. We see you, we hear you, and we are here to help”.

Senate Republicans are trying to stop a stimulus bill that would provide aid to cities and states. With the snap of his finger, @realDonaldTrump could fix that.
