Meta will Launch New VR Headset in October with Advanced Features
The Connect conference of Meta will bring its next VR headset and is expected to take place in October. CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg issued a statement on Thursday. The event will run in an equally strange environment, the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Spotify. CEO said the new VR headset is a continuation of the most famous Oculus 2.
The company will focus on social existence with remarkable features such as face-tracking and eye-tracking. Zuckerberg added the headset is aimed at capturing the facial expressions of users. It will also engage them on their avatars in real time to empower non-verbal communication. He pointed out that the AR glasses of Meta are just a couple of years away.
Zuckerberg also confirmed that the company will launch the headset in October with some advanced mixed reality features. However, Meta teased a high-end headset with the code name Project Cambria at the Connect conference last year. But Zuckerberg pointed out that the company has planned to launch the final consumer version of the headset in October.
New Headset with Meta Quest Pro Feature
Last month, Bloomberg issued a report pointing to the code in Meta’s associated iPhone app for VR headsets. It is predicted that the upcoming headset is expected to feature the Meta Quest Pro name. Zuckerberg repeatedly stressed on the Joe Rogan podcast that the actual VR can unlock a sense of being in the existence of another person.
Zuckerberg also said people actually don’t consider that they are present with the person during a video call. Moreover, virtual reality basically unlocks their brain that they are engaged with a person. The company operated as a metaverse business instead of a social media platform before Facebook rebranded to Meta. It shows its strategy as developing a world of multiple virtual environments for all users.
The Horizon Worlds Platform for VR Headsets
The company is moving forward and empowering efforts to better connect different kinds of its developing experiences together. For instance, Horizon Worlds is a social platform designed for VR headsets with availability in select countries. It was criticized for stock graphics while claiming of the next VR headset capturing with facial expressions.
The announcement of Meta came weeks after the company increased the price of Oculus 2 from $299 to $399. However, we didn’t find more information related to the upcoming headset. But Zuckerberg mentioned it as a stronger step above Oculus 2 and it will be priced at around $400. The plain Horizon Worlds virtual reality platform of Meta will mark an extension into Spain and France.
Key updates to Horizon and Avatar Graphics
Zuckerberg recently shared a selfie showing the CEO in front of a low-res model of the Eiffel tower. It rapidly struck a nerve by sparking sneers from advanced social media users. However, the image mentions Meta’s influence over our virtual past and present. Zuckerberg also said on Instagram that key updates to Horizon and avatar graphics are coming very soon.
CEO of Meta said he will share more at Connect and referred to the upcoming developer conference of Meta. He said his shared photo was pretty basic and it was taken more frequently to celebrate a launch. Zuckerberg said it shows the signs of humanity. The response from Zuckerberg includes another avatar and an ancient-looking café with more information.
