Victoria has significantly improved its position as a leading authority in Australia regarding key life sciences investment. The southern Australian state government also announced collaboration with BioNTech to construct a research & innovation center for mRNA. BioNTech improved its reputation during the pandemic after becoming Pfizer’s partner in the development of “COMIRANTY” (Covid-19 vaccine).

Meanwhile, the state and the company will form a research and invention center under the new partnership. The main objective of this collaboration is to identify and facilitate the development of potential mRNA participants. The investment of BioNTech in Victoria State will create it Asia-Pacific mRNA clinical research & development center for the company.

Advanced Clinical Manufacturing Facility of BioNTech

BioNTech will also establish an end-to-end advanced clinical manufacturing facility in Melbourne. It will produce mRNA-based medicines and product entrants. The company has constructed a mobile modular manufacturing unit, the BioNTainer, which needs significant space for operation. This unit offers the timely and extensible local production of various possibilities.

The company is hopeful to establish hundreds of jobs during the development and operation in Melbourne. The investment from BioNTech will significantly improve the growing demand for mRNA for Victoria State. However, Victoria State was selected as the location for a reliable manufacturing facility for Moderna’s mRNA vaccine.

The New Collaboration to Enhance Australia’s mRNA Ecosystem

The co-founder and CEO of BioNTech, Professor Ugur Sahin, issued a statement. He said science and invention can efficiently create a difference after their implementation outside the laboratories to reach people globally. The recent partnership is a remarkable step to enable access to mRNA tech and enhance participation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sahin added Australia offers remarkable academic research and the company is looking forward to collaborating with world-class scientists and researchers. It would empower Australia’s mRNA ecosystem in jointly developing possible novel treatments and vaccines for people around the world. This collaboration is a major achievement to discover incredible opportunities for researchers and biotech companies around the world.
