3D-Printed Heart Saves a Baby Life
Doctors used 3D-printed heart model to successfully complete the heart surgery of a new born baby. The disease of the new born was so complex that doctors had to print a 3D model of the baby heart before starting his heart surgery. It helped doctors to plan better for the surgery of the baby. The aorta and pulmonary arteries were unusually rose with the big hole in the heart.
Before taking a final decision of the surgery at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian, the doctors decided to prepare a 3D printed model of the heart to understand the real time situation of the heart of the baby. Doctors wanted to cure this disease in single surgery therefore they took this step to prepare a better plan to understand the whole structure of the heart. The hole in the hole in the heart is not unusual thing in the heart diseases but the heart chambers of the baby were in strange formation that was problematic for doctors. Fortunately the operation was successful in the hospital and the model technique worked for doctors and they successfully saved the life of a new born baby.
