This news report generated after issuance of an internal newsletter for American Airlines employees and a spokes man also said that American Airlines not discontinuing their services to Tel Aviv from Philadelphia, but they are planning to change their route because current route is not considered as a profitable route.
American Airlines announced this week that we are discontinuing our service between Philadelphia to Tel Aviv, Israel on 1st January 2016. This route was considered a pride for our Air Lines, our Philadelphia and International teams, and for our community, but we will not take such kind of decisions in hurry. There are a number of factors that should be considered for the success of a route. We are operating with excellent load factors between Philadelphia and Tel Aviv. We have been operating PHL-TLV route for last six years, but we are not able to make a handsome profit by this route in a couple of years and we have lost more than 20 million U.S dollars in the last year. We are now looking to a more profitable route and we will be able to make some right decisions for the improvement in our business.
