AR and VR technology have brought innovation to the gaming world. The gaming industry has shown rapid growth in the past couple of years. Most smartphone users were spending maximum time playing games on their devices. They have now overlooked the faster development in the gaming industry. The development of AR and VR technology and more powerful smartphones have entirely transformed the gaming experience.

Virtual Reality and its Implementation

VR headsets are entirely offering a perfect vision to provide an impression that you are in another environment. The PlayStation VR, HTC Vive Cosmos, Valve Index, Oculus Quest, and other headsets are smoggy. These VR headsets effectively block your surroundings after wearing them. The headsets not only detect the specific direction, but any movement you are making in those directions. However, combining the 6DOF motion controllers would enable you to move around with virtual hands in a virtual space.

Augmented Reality and its Implementation

Meanwhile, virtual reality replaces the user’s vision, but augmented reality adds more. Augmented reality devices including Microsoft HoloLens and other smart glasses are transparent. It would enable users to see everything in front of them if they are wearing weaker sunglasses. AR tech is aimed at free movement while projecting images over whatever users are looking at.

AR concept equips smartphones with AR games and apps, such as Pokémon Go. Users can use their smartphone camera to track their surroundings and overspread more information on the top of the screen. The basic AR simply overspreads information and can perform perfect functions with 3DOF.

But most AR apps need 6DOF in some cases, such as tracking your physical position. It enables software to sustain constant positions for the images projected in a 3D environment. However, phone-based AR software can also recognize surroundings to provide more information. AR is currently available on smartphones and doesn’t provide a vision for enterprise-level AR displays.
