The Surgeon General Jerome Adams has warned Americans to prepare for the upcoming hardest and saddest week as the country is experiencing a spike in deaths related to coronavirus. He was talking with Fox News Sunday and said, “T his is going to be our Pearl Harbour moment, our 9/11 moment, only it’s not going to be localized, it’s going to be happening all over the country”. Point to be noted that the United States is entering a crucial two-week period to combat the deadly virus. Adams said the US government and state governors imposed comprehensive statewide stay-at-home orders across the country. He said surges in hospitalizations and patients requiring ventilator support following Covid-19 infection.

It is noteworthy that eight states haven’t issued statewide shelter-in-place measures. A handful of states don’t have any quarantine measures on the state or local levels. It is creating a patchwork response to combat the spread of the virus while some areas have issued more strict efforts regarding social distancing. The head of White House response to the Covid-19 outburst, Dr. Anthony Fauci said he doesn’t understand why there isn’t a national stay-at-home order, or at least why all 50 states aren’t issuing consistent orders simultaneously. General Adams also said, “Give us a week. Give us whatever you can to stay at home in this particularly tough time when we’re going to be hitting our peak in the next seven to 10 days”.

The Johns Hopkins University has indicated the death toll from the coronavirus has crossed 9,100 and more than 320,000 confirmed cases on 5th April in the United States. President Trump has warned there will be a lot of deaths in coming days and weeks. He delivered his words on Saturday during a White House briefing and said, “This will be probably the toughest week between this week and next week, and there will be a lot of death, unfortunately”. Surgeon Adams said, “No matter where you are, stay at home. Give us what you can so we can get this peak and start to come out the other side”.
