A number of people screamed about harmful sits that helped in delivering this message to the White House after the establishment of new administration of U.S President Donald Trump. The reaction pushed to distance among a number of those companies. It literally caused in generating income for others, such as the major advertising company AppNexus pulled back its entire ads from Breitbart in the month of November 2016. Now, the global telecom Vodafone has made a similar step and blocked its ads from appearing on those sites that are promoting hate speech and publishing fake news. The Guardian also pointed out that it has indicated that offending website will not get benefits from the 400 million U.S dollars digital advertising budget of Vodafone.
It is important that Vodafone will not stop its customers from visiting those pages. But, the company will pull any kind of Vodafone-promoting ads from any online outlet and social media website, including aap or broadcast channel whose major purpose is to spread hate speech or publishing fake news due to its new strict rules regarding its integrity and transparency policy. Only approved sites by the advertising network of Vodafone will be allowed to host ads that are not publishing fake news or harmful contents. It doesn’t mean that it should be considered an outright ban on any website publishing low level of offensive content. But, repeatedly publishing fake stories and harmful hate speech websites will be pulled out.
