The market for foldable laptops has started growing after the foldable phones have earned more popularity. Now, HP has contributed the efforts and is supposedly working on a bigger 17-inch laptop presenting a foldable OLED display.

However, all available laptops technically are folding devices including 2 key portions, a display, and a keyboard. But the concept of folding laptops refers to the display itself. It would have a folded display in half of the bottom. The remaining half is supposed for a logical keyboard or a sliding-over physical keyboard.

Flexible OLED Displays for HP Laptop

Keep in mind that there is a significant foldable smartphone market, but aren’t any foldable laptops available yet. A report suggests the supply chain would provide a glimpse of the latest demands and trends. The SK IE Technology and LG have teamed up to provide 10K flexible OLED displays to HP.

These advanced displays are manufactured from a thin polyimide film. It is the same material already used in the original Galaxy Z Fold. It is noteworthy that the first foldable laptop was the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. This laptop has an excellent display but was uncomfortable and a bit poky for most people.

However, there are other foldable laptops already announced such as the Samsung Flex Note and Asus ZenBook 17 Fold. Both these foldable devices learned much from the stumbles of the ThinkPad X1 Fold. These foldable devices have 17-inch displays considerably more or less equal to a 13-inch display after the half fold.

The supposed HP foldable laptop is expected to get a similar approach with its 17-inch display. This display folds down into an 11-inch folded laptop. Its display will supposedly have a 4K resolution as well as a touchscreen and stylus support. These features could make HP foldable laptop a great option for creative artists.
