James Clapper has Submitted Resignation from DNI Post

The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper has submitted his resignation letter on 16th November 2016. He will provide a key post free for new administration of recently elected new U.S President Donald Trump. Some news outlets presented this development as Breaking and some quickly pointed out that the resignation of Clapper was expected due to ending of his job period. The official Twitter account of DNI indicated that “All appointed officials in the Obama administration are required to submit their resignation. So, DNI Clapper has signed and submitted his letter of resignation and it would be valid from 20th January 2017. Point to be noted that Clapper’s term was frequently represented by the actions of Edward Snowden and consequential disclosure regarding the activities of the National Security Agency.

It is important that the post Director of National Intelligence was created on 11th September 2001 and it was considered the part of a major governmental restructuring in making better coordination among different intelligence agencies such as FBI and CIA. Clapper is the 4th U.S Director of National Intelligence. He took presidential command of 17 intelligence agencies in the year 2010 and served under the Obama administration. He was marked by Edward Snowden leaks regarding the activities of U.S intelligence agencies. Snowden presented remarks of Clapper in an interview in 2014 as these remarks were made by Clapper in 2013 about his motivation failure from the United States. The members of the Senate Select Committee sent a letter to the development team of Donald Trump to nominate a new DNI before 20th January 2017.
