Legendary Actor Richard Hatch Passed Away at 71

The legend and a champion of the Battlestar Galactica sci-fi franchise for decades, actor Richard Hatch has died on 7th February 2017 at the age of 71. Hatch had performed the role of the heroic Captain Apollo in the first incarnation series in the year 1978. This performance earned Golden Globe Awards nomination for him as the Best Actor in a Television Series in the following year. He also performed as popular political leader “Tom Zarek” in critically admired reboot beginning show in 2005. Hatch wrote 5 books set on the original Galactica universe. He also produced Battlestar Galactica. The death of Hatch was first reported by a pop culture news website “Bleeding Cool”. He also played role as the Klingon captain Kharn in Axanar (a Star Trek fan film).

The writer & producer of the film, Alec Peters has confirmed the death of Richard Hatch in a statement. He has died due to pancreatic cancer. He also added that at least 3 weeks ago, stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer was discovered and we knew the he had a small amount of time left. But, it was considered as sudden death than we were expecting. He indicated that Richard was in good spirits 2 weeks ago. Richard knew that he has a short amount of time left, but he was relaxed. Richard Hatch was also appeared on the soap opera “All My Children”, the Depression-era television drama “The Waltons”, and the detective series “The Streets of San Francisco” by replacing Michael Douglas.
