The New York Times reported that the executive order of Trump has specified that Christians & other minority religions should be given priority over Muslims. This action has been considered a part of Trump’s promise during his presidential campaign. It was known as “Extreme Vetting Measures”, especially designed to keep terrorists out of the United States. Trump said during the signing ceremony at Pentagon that “We don’t want Islamic terrorists here. We want to ensure that we are not admitting into our country due to heavy threats because our soldiers are fighting overseas. We only want to admit to those who support our country and deeply love our people”. A number of human rights groups deeply condemned the executive order as an instance of religious harassment.
The American Civil Liberties Union entitles it as “Euphemism for Discriminating against Muslims”. Point to be noted that the Vice President Mike Pence was standing behind Trump and applauded during the signing ceremony of executive order by Trump. A couple of hours later, a tweet supposedly sent by then-Governor of Indiana Mike Pence on 8th December 2015 was enthroned & shared online as a proof. He had once strongly disagreed with Trump on the issue of banning other nationals into United States on the basis of religion. This tweet was actually sent from the authentic & verified Twitter account of Mike Pence. His comment was in response to a proposal on 7th December 2017 by then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. This proposal was regarding the imposing of a temporary ban on Muslims to enter in the United States.
