The Speaker of the Hose, Nancy Peolsi called out the U.S President Donald Trump for resorting to name-calling over his administration’s response to the Coronavirus. She said an agreement on an emergency spending package to combat the virus is close. The president slammed Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for criticizing his administration’s response. The House Speaker called for both parties to work together. On Wednesday night, Trump said, “I think she’s incompetent. She’s not leading the country. She’s trying to create a panic. And there’s no reason to panic”. Pelosi said during her weekly press conference on Thursday that the unpredictable virus means now is not a time for name-calling or playing politics.

Pelosi also called on all parties involved in talks regarding the government’s response and a likely emergency spending package to finance work on a potential vaccine and other countermeasures to bring about an agreement to ensure the country has the essential resources needed to fight against deadly virus. It is noteworthy that her comments came after the GOP president alleged Pelosi and Schumer of using the Coronavirus and his response to get a political benefit. Trump said, “This isn’t about political advantage. We are all trying to do the right thing. They shouldn’t be saying, ‘This is terrible. President Trump isn’t asking for enough money”.

Trump added, “How stupid a thing to say. If they want to give us more money, that’s okay. We will take more money. Some Republicans think we should have more money, too. That’s okay. We will take more money”. Trump also tried to pin a U.S and global stock market drop surrounded by virus concerns on the slate of Democratic presidential candidates. But Pelosi pointed out that markets dropped during normal trading hours. Pelosi appeared to suggest Trump was purposely misleading the American public regarding the recent market downturn. She said, “It really has to make you wonder”. Moreover, the Speaker was looking to downplay gossip in Washington.
