US President Donald Trump has criticized NBC journalist Kristen Welker to discredit her impartiality ahead of Thursday’s final presidential debate against Joe Biden. He said, “She’s always been terrible & unfair, just like most of the Fake News reporters, but I’ll still play the game. The people know”. President Trump’s tweet also quoted a post by his son Don Jr., in which the latter linked to an article by the right-leaning New York Post. Trump criticized her on Saturday night during a campaign rally in Wisconsin. He also claimed Welker has deeper Democratic links and she was unfair, and unbalanced in her reporting. Point to be noted that Trump’s criticism came in spite of formerly congratulating Welker after the network gave her a weekend anchor slot in January 2020.

President said at the time that NBC made a very wise decision in promoting Welker. Trump also agreed with his senior campaign manager to have Welker moderate the final presidential clash. President Trump’s recent attack on Welker came a day after announced that more people watched his democratic challenger, Joe Biden during last week’s town hall events. Both candidates were separately appeared for questioning on their views about the country. It is noteworthy that the final presidential debate in Nashville, Tennessee is most important for President Trump. Welker is highly regarded by her colleagues and she was also honored by The Washington Women in Journalism Awards. She was awarded as the outstanding broadcast journalist of the year.

President Trump also suggested that the actions from his administration on dishwasher pressure meant women supported him. On Sunday, he said, “The women come up to me, the women they say don’t like me, they actually do like me a lot. So, you go into a hotel or you buy a house, and they have what’s called a restrictor. The same thing with your dishwasher, I freed that up too”. President said in an apparent reference to environmental standards that dishwashers had a problem until his intervention. He said, “The dishwashers, they tend to have a little problem, they didn’t get enough water, like, so people would run ‘em ten times, so they end up using more water, and the thing’s no damn good. We freed it up. Now you can buy a dishwasher, and it comes out. It’s beautiful, go and buy a dishwasher”.
