President of the United States, Donald Trump has shared an interview. Point to be noted that the conservative activist Candace Owens mentioned George Floyd as a broken culture in black America today and insists he wasn’t a good person. Floyd was a black man and died last month in Minneapolis after a police officer pinned him to the ground with a knee to the neck for nearly 9-minutes. His death sparked days of protests not only in the United States but around the world against police brutality in the US. Now, the Black Lives Matter movement runs into its 12th consecutive day with protesters calling for police reform and an end to systemic racism.
Owens said she had been left sickened by the fact that Floyd has been held up as a martyr. She delivered his words during an interview with radio host Glenn Beck and posted an interview on Twitter before retweeting by President Trump. Owen said, “George Floyd was not a good person. I don’t care who wants to spin that, I don’t care how CNN wants to make you think that he had just turned his life around. The fact that he has been held up as a martyr sickens me”. She added, “Floyd had served five stints in jail. Was he really going to turn things around? It’s just not true”.
The radio host said, “I don’t care WHAT George Floyd did. The officer should have never treated him like that and killed him! But we still must ask: Is he a HERO?” President Donald Trump retweeted the post without adding a comment. Trump was subject to widespread condemnation for invoking Floyd’s name as he touted US jobs figures. He suggested a strong economy would help repair racial tensions. Joe Biden was one of many politicians to speak out against the remarks of President Trump. He said the president was speaking of a man who was brutally killed by an act of needless violence and by a larger tide of injustice. It is noteworthy that the last words of George Floyd ‘I can’t breathe’, have echoed all around the world.
