Listen to this articleA group mentioning itself as the First Artist-run Super PAC has now claimed on 21st November 2016 for taking responsibility of constructing a billboard in Pearl, Mississippi for displaying the slogan “Make America Great Again” by adding a photograph captured in 1965 of civil rights march in Selma, Alabama, but someone covered the billboard with a black protective cloth. Point to be noted that displayed historical picture in the background of slogan was captured just before state troopers of Alabama attacked black demonstrators with tear gas and Billy-clubs, and those violent conflict become known as “Bloody Sunday”. The Governor of Alabama Phil Bryant had called the billboard as “Disruptive”. The mayor of city Brad Rogers had announced for its removal.
The organization claimed manufacturing the billboard calls itself “For Freedoms” and said that the major reason behind the display of this billboard was to motivate for political debates. The website of the group further indicated that “For Freedoms used art to motivate positive political discussions among citizens who need to have a greater impact on the political environment in America”. One of the member artists Hank Willis Thomas said that installing billboard was to make an effort for giving voice to a question raised during the campaign of Donald Trump regarding the slogan “Make America Great Again”. The co-founder of “For Freedoms” Eric Gottesman said in an interview to CNN that the supposed meaning of the project was not Ironic or Satirical and it shouldn’t be considered against Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.
