A jury sentenced a 22-years old Sylann Roof to death on 10th January 2017. He was found involved in killing 9 Black parishioners in Charleston, South Carolina in the year 2015. This bloodbath took place when Roof was entered into a Bible study at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston on 17th June 2015. He entered in the Church with a handgun hidden in a waist pouch. The New York Times indicated that the jury made its decision just after a couple of hours of discussion in the phase of penalty in the trial. Roof didn’t show his emotion during trial and the discussion efficiently covered first trial of Roof regarding killings on 17th June 2015.

Point to be noted that when Roof entered into the Church, he first took aim at Mr. Pinckney. Pinckney was a State Senator and the youngest African-American since elected as a legislature from South Carolina. Roof started fire and consumed seven rounds. But, aside from Pinckney, there were other victims including an 87-years old woman named Susie Jackson. The youngest victim of this incident was a 26-years old Tywanza Sanders. Point to be noted that Sanders also tried to convince Roof to stop firing. During the attack, the wife of Pinckney and his 6-years old daughter were hiding in the study of pastor. The suspect (Roof) is still facing a capital murder trial by the prosecutors of State, but we were unable to collect the state trial report.
