Various popular brands are making a move to attract consumers with their innovative April Fools jokes. Meltwater released statistics that there were around 178k mentions of April Fools online from March 26 and April 1. However, April Fools’ Day has experienced at least a 630% increase compared to the last week.
Moreover, the average numbers of mentions per day were around 25.3 during the same time period. The activity was measured at 14.5k on March 30 and jumped to 86.5k on April 1, 2022. Social media platforms experienced trending keywords such as ‘Prank delivery men, Somebody’s emotions, Joke, Food panda’, and many others.
Meltwater said various Twitter posts have warned citizens to avoid pranking Food Panda and other delivery options with massive coverage. However, most of the mentions came from the United States and stemmed from the UK, Canada, Australia, and China. The majority of these mentions were neutral but 65% found positive and around 15% of them were negative.
More Complicated Pranks & Jokes
The senior director and partner of meltwater, Nimrah Mehmood said most brands around the world have constantly tricked April Fools’ Day. Most of them used it as a light-hearted way to interact with consumers and attract them with more fun. The pranks and jokes have become more complicated with the increasing expectations for the growing risk of consumer tiredness.
The most essential factor for brands to consider while fashioning such campaigns is to draw a line between honor and harshness. She said it would keep things engaging and fresh without generating disturbance or hurting any perspectives.
Manipulating tools such as social listening and audience views would support them in efficiently navigating consumer likings and limitations. However, it would pave the way for powerful, effective, and result-oriented campaigns. Various brands in Asia are presenting their more amazing ideas to life at the April Fools’ Event.
