SpaceX’ Starlink has Decreased the Monthly Fee from $100 to $50

Tesla North reported that people can now get the high-speed satellite internet connection of SpaceX’s Starlink at a bargain. The statement also pointed out the company’s emails sent to users and shared on a Reddit thread. Starlink has decreased the monthly connection fee from $100 to $50.

This massive decline came after new soft data shells on bandwidth use, according to a new usage policy. The new usage policy specifies that all Starlink users will continue to get unlimited data. The report referred to an email sent to French customers of Starlink. It would reportedly offer priority to users consuming a maximum of 250GB of data.

Users exceeding 250GB per month of data usage could experience slower speeds during network bottlenecks. The report said these users can choose to buy additional data at $10 per 100GB to regain priority. The new pricing policy and related alterations will take effect from 3rd August 2022.

Starlink Satellites Offer Internet Service Globally

Keep in mind that the company will reportedly implement the new usage policy in October. SpaceX said this pilot program will allow connecting a massive number of people without compromising the quality and service. The statement added that people will get the same long-term outcome of Starlink service at half the price. It is essential that Tesla Inc. owns SpaceX and its subsidiary Starlink.

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet system has the capability to deliver 150Mbps internet speeds to any place around the world. However, a clear view of the sky is essential to receive internet service with an uninterrupted connection. Starlink started serving most of its users based in rural or remote regions of America in the fall of 2020.

Users Can Now Sign Up for Starlink Connection

Users must visit the website Starlink.com. The website will obtain the user’s address and inform the user if the satellite internet service is available in the desired area. The company will inform users of the approximate date for the availability of the Starlink connection if it is not currently available. However, most users will supposedly have to wait months. The report also said the wait times have moved into early 2023.

SpaceX submitted a report in a February 2021 filing to the FCC. The report said Starlink is currently serving at least 400 thousand users around the world. But hundreds of thousands of people throughout the US have signed up with the intention of taking a look. Moreover, the company is accepting requests for each coverage area on a first-come, first-served basis.

Starlink Connection Needs a $99 Refundable Deposit

Users need to wait for the improvement in the coverage if their location is already full with Starlink users. They can pre-order on the website of Starlink as it requires a refundable $99 deposit to reserve a spot. It is important that Starlink currently costs $110 per month due to a price increase. Users will need to pay a one-time $599 fee for the Starlink satellite Wi-Fi router and a dish.

Meanwhile, the company also presented a Premium Starlink service with reliable connections and faster speeds. It needs a $2,500 one-time fee for the Premium Starlink dish and will cost you $500 per month. Multiple reports have indicated that SpaceX is mainly focusing on marketing and service to businesses. The company is currently providing 50Mbps to 200Mbps download speeds and 30Mbps upload speeds.
