Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the next President of the United States. His statement about the official filing came only a week after the midterm elections in 2022. However, Democratic candidates were able to maintain significant control of the Senate.

Trump Claimed America’s Comeback has Started

Trump claimed the US is experiencing a destructive situation in front of Americans’ eyes. He said America’s comeback has now started. However, the shadowy vision overheard back to his inauguration speech of Trump. He then claimed that the country is disturbing American extermination and he needs to fix the issue. Trump seeks an upcoming potential contest against President Joe Biden.

Experts believe President Joe Biden is expected to experience nose-to-nose competition if Trump runs for reelection in 2024. The final poll results showed inflation was the major issue with overall midterm election voters. Most voters said they deeply trusted Republicans over the potential issue more than Democrats. More than 74% of white voters participated in the midterm election of 2022.

Midterm Election 2022 Experienced a Boost in White Voters

A significant boost in white voters also reversed a decades-long trend of decline in white voters in the midterm elections. However, Republicans are currently experiencing a decline to satisfy Americans over the current increasing inflation and fragile US economy. This situation has motivated most American voters as they have pointed their fingers in Trump’s direction, even from most Republicans.

Moreover, the anger over the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade has authorized abortion as legal in the United States. But voters have forwarded a message that they don’t need extremes and disapproved Trump-backed candidates. Republicans have lost in potential Senate races in many states such as Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.

The Current Situation Could Hamper Republicans to Pass Legislation

Meanwhile, Democrats have the potential to expand their majority with a runoff election in Georgia, after 3 weeks from now. Republicans are on the steep of control for the House but with just a smaller majority compared to their expectations. It is noteworthy that the current situation will supposedly hamper their capability to approve legislation in 2024.

The Cook Political Report said Trump was endorsed in 21 out of the 64 House race competitions. The report also rated as toss-ups or attraction toward one party or another, as Trump-backed won just 7. However, there were around 3 dozen potential races and Trump backed 9 candidates but just one got the victory. Trump rapidly claimed his candidates contested well and announced launching another run for President.

Ron DeSantis is Supposedly a Key Rival of Trump

However, his style of politics has shown rejection in most crucial districts and states for multiple election rounds. Trump’s move was supposedly an effort to halt the GOP presidential field. It is also forcing Republican elected members to endorse him. He doesn’t need to provide any chance to his potential competitors within the party, such as the Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis.

Last week, DeSantis remarkably won reelection as the Governor of Florida. Trump’s party has openly started asking questions to continue their support for the former president or find another one. DeSantis is a staunch conservative and landed in controversy for flying migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard. However, most Republicans widely consider DeSantis as a more disciplined version of Trump.
