One of the U.S President Donald Trump’s top officials, Dr Anthony Fauci has announced that the worst is yet ahead of us. He is currently leading the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases the National Institutes of Health. Fauci said, “It is how we respond to that challenge that is going to determine what the ultimate end point is going to be”. He earlier warned young people aren’t immune or safe from getting seriously ill. It is noteworthy that the president falsely claimed at a Sunday press conference. He said, “Young people, people of good health, and groups of people, just are not strongly affected”. The number of confirmed patients in the United States rises to at least 3,300.

Trump also advised Americans to Relax. He said, “We’re doing great. It will pass”. The president’s conflicting statements have done little to calm a panicked stock market. His claims have frequently been echoed by his Republican allies on right-wing media. He informed reporters that he wasn’t concerned about the spread elevating to a pandemic from the outbreak’s onset in January. He said the United States has done it totally under control and its impact in the U.S will be just fine. He also said in January, a few weeks later, as the virus spread to nearly 80,000 people that the virus would miraculously go away in April.

President Trump repeated his claim in late February and said his administration was taking an aggressive response. Point to be noted that President announced an unprecedented travel ban this week, on most people entering the country from Europe. The health officials have also warned the virus threat has already embedded itself into communities across the United States. Trump has routinely ignored warnings and statements by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Dr Fauci. They criticized the president for disbanding a White House pandemic team in 2018, but Trump has denied doing. The president declared a national emergency on Friday. It is activating millions of dollars in relief available to state and local governments.
