US: More Young Children been Fatally Shot than the Police

A heavy shooting incident happened in Roseburg, Oregon on 1st October 2015. This incident nationwide raised many emotional editorial columns regarding the gun violence matters. One of those columns was published by a website New York Times on 3rd October 2015 by Nicholas Kristof with the title ‘A New Way to Tackle Gun Deaths’. Kristof indicated about the report of Centers of Disease Control and FBI that at least 82 young children reported killed and 27 police officers killed during their duty in 2013. Maybe Kristof selected 2013 to find accurate data because FBI not yet published information for the year 2014 on their official website.

The groundwork report of the FBI about ‘police officers killed by criminals’ showing the number of officers died in the incidents harmed by the criminals during their duty. This report clearly indicated that all the police officers didn’t die with gun shots during their duty in the year 2014. Most of the criminals used firearms in 46 incidents out of 51 deaths, at least 33 incidents involved handguns, 9 of them with rifles and four incidents happened with shotguns. It is also said that more than 29 officers died in various automobile accidents in which 16 officers used seatbelts but other officers did not use seatbelts. It is said that at least 7 with motorcycle accidents and 6 were struck by some vehicles, it is important that only two officers were killed by accidental shootings. It is added that 55, 71 and 48 officers were killed in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively.
