On Sunday, Venezuela slammed comments of the U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo regarding the government of President Nicolás Maduro, blaming supremacist policies and aggression by the administration of the U.S President Donald Trump. Pompeo said in a speech on Friday that a dictator today in Venezuela is destroying the economy and making their people hungry. He stressed that the U.S State Department will offer help to those who flee the crisis-stricken country. Pompeo shows unreal and false concern for the reality of Venezuela. The Foreign Ministry of Venezuela said in a statement that he was also hiding the perverse effects of the unilateral coercive measures of his government. The statement was also referring to financial sanctions imposed against Venezuela by the Trump administration.
The Venezuela government said that the Trump government has launched bizarre actions, typical of the egotism and despair of imperialist politics. The Trump administration again experienced failure in its destructive approach in the face of free and independent people of Venezuela. Point to be noted that the UN figures have indicated at least 1 million people left Venezuela between 2015 and 2017. Their escape was due to the rising incidence of malnutrition and preventable diseases as a result of the collapse of the socialist economic system in the country. Maduro alleged the situation on the U.S sanctions and announced it an economic war imposed against the people of Venezuela. He is up for re-election on 20th May in a vote that is being boycotted by the main coalition of opposition.
