The strike action has been entered into the 3rd day on 8th August 2017. The strike took place by the security staff at EI Prat airport in Barcelona. The Spanish media also reported on Monday that the continuous strike caused a significant amount of delays to travelers. The strike is being managed by the employees of the Eulen Company. The company has the contract to manage the security checks on travelers at EI Prat airport. The workers are demonstrating regarding the lack of training, long shifts, and low wages. The representatives of workers mentioned that duty shifts last up to 16 hours. The passengers were arrived early in the morning after the first-day strike on Friday as they were expecting to be delayed.
Monday was the 3rd day of the strike after unsuccessful negotiations of at least 9 hours took place on Sunday. The Eulen Company offered a pay rise of 150 Euros per month, but workers were demanding 350 Euros per month. The Spanish Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Julio Gomez-Pomar also asked security workers to moderate their demands and it should be reasonable when it goes for a suitable agreement. The representatives of the workers also commented that the AENA is vital in the negotiations. AENA is the company running airports of Spain. A temporary stoppage will be continued until 14th August after not reaching a reasonable agreement.
